What to anticipate when relocating for a work?
Employee benefits are specific to each organization. Your HR will give you the specifics of your relocation package and first steps. Depending on your personal level of benefits, you will be directed to a particular service provider, or you might be expected to choose a mover on your own. No matter, Corrigan’s knowledgeable team will be there, guiding you during every stage of the move.
Your Move Survey
The total cost of your move will be calculated based on the weight of the shipment and miles, a home survey is required to estimate the weight of what is being moved. During the home survey, you will guide a professional moving consultant throughout your house and garage, showing the things that will be included as part of your shipment. You can expect to be asked to open doors, cupboards, closets and see under beds for items that are easily missed!
*Virtual surveys have greatly become the primary form of performing a move survey for our corporate relocation clients. Regardless, in-home surveys with a professional moving consultant are still a choice.
Assessing the Quote & Refining Moving Needs
After completing your home survey, you will receive a moving quote. Corrigan’s relocation representative will go over the estimate in detail and give choices for keeping costs within your allowed corporate relocation budget.
A few items to think about while sizing your moving needs to lower the cost of your move:
- If packing has been included in your estimate, you can reduce the total price by boxing your own items, or, reducing the amount of packing to include just the delicate things.
- Donating or selling items that you don’t need to save will bring down the weight, extend your relocation budget, and declutter unnecessary items in your new home.
- Are your moving dates fixed? If there’s latitude in your dates, and you can adjust your dates a little; you might see a reduced cost. Make sure to let your move representative know if your move dates are adjustable.
Your move representative will work with you to determine a personalized moving package that matches your exact moving needs and keeps within your specified budget. Our knowledge working with corporate transferees gives you access to the industries’ most informed and experienced specialists with an array of personalized moving options.
When the details are settled and your relocation is booked, you will be assigned a personal move coordinator[[. This person will provide support during every phase of your move. He or she will ensure you have the information you need to know, when you need to know it and will continue to be a resource for any reservations, obstacles, or revisions you want to see to your move program.
Your personal move coordinator will be in touch at key points to provide important details about your relocation and keep you up to date. Between scheduling your move with Corrigan Moving and move day, you will be giving info on:
- Moving Guide & To-Do Items
- Prohibited, non-transportable items
- Packing videos & high value items paperwork
- Supervisor introductions
- What to expect on load day
- Move day updates
As your one point of contact, we ask our corporate customers to contact your your move coordinators whenever you want through the entire move process.
Delivery & Settling In
Leading up to your delivery, your move coordinator will be in constant communication, confirming dates, times and preparing you for what to expect for delivery. You will learn valuable information regarding the paperwork to expect, your roll in the delivery process and more.
After delivery, you’ll have a follow-up phone call or email from your move coordinator with a reminder to complete our post-move survey. And, if needed, your move coordinator will walk you through the simplesteps for submitting a claim.
